Jonathan Dresel has been the drummer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! since the show began in 2003, playing five nights a week in the house band Cleto and the Cletones. Since the death of bandleader Cleto Escobedo III in November 2025, the band has carried on as The Cletones.
Born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, in 1967, he followed his older brother, Los Angeles drummer Bernie Dresel, onto the instrument, and came to Frost in 1986 to study Studio Music and Jazz, playing in the Concert Jazz Band. His credits in Los Angeles also include jazz pianist Keiko Matsui and English rocker John Waite.
Jonathan played in the CJB for three years before graduating from the U and moving to Los Angeles. He has been drumming for the Jimmy Kimmel show for many years. Jonathan has also played with jazz pianist Keiko Matsui, and English rocker John Waite.
He does an excellent Bill Murray impression.
