New York freelance drummer, producer and composer Chris DeRosa grew up in Guilford, Connecticut, and studied at Berklee, where he won the Buddy Rich Jazz Masters scholarship, and at UM, where he received the Bowman Ashe scholarship for artistic and academic achievement. He has played or recorded with Deborah Harry and Chris Stein of Blondie, CeeLo Green, Michael McDonald, Raul Midón, Rick Ross, H.R. of Bad Brains, Nadia Ali and Melba Moore, and his work has taken him to more than 55 countries.
In 2011 he led his band Monkfish in Egypt as a U.S. State Department Jazz Cultural Ambassador, playing Luxor Temple and the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, and he later toured China on a jazz exchange. He runs CDR Drum Tracking Studios for remote sessions and has taught at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and Marymount Manhattan College.
